...And the battlefield expands...

In the couple of months of play since DS regrouped, we have reached a cool little milestone:
10th place on the CGo HQ 3v3 ladder!. Not bad considering a few forfeits were in the mix.

DS expanded very gradually at first (with K1ngz being our first new player), and more recently we have started to see more interest from new players (Doberman) and existing players (saint, now known as cRiMiz).

...As the size of our force increases, so too must the battlefield...

We are happy to announce that we are now re-enrolling into the CGo SnD ladder - our new team is here; this should increase clan activity dramatically, many of us have been eagerly awaiting this moment.

Speaking of battlefields, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is set to release in a week. It would be an understatement to say that we have an exciting time ahead of us.

A Time for War

The war section of the site is now live, all clan members please check it out!

This Monday we have our first match back on the Cybergamer HQ 3v3 ladder. The turn-up and outcome of this match will help steer the path for DS; helping in the decision of joining new ladders and expanding. War is upon us!

New DS v2.0 site is finally up and running

After spending much more time on it than I first intended to, the new DS site is up. As decided a few months ago, DS disbanded temporarily due to a mixture of inactivity and the members being too busy to be able to reliably attend COD4 matches. The idea of the disband was to time a regroup for the Modern Warfare 2 launch ...and we all know how that turned out.

The announcement of no dedicated servers triggered an explosion of outrage and disappointment from the PC COD community. This is also a major factor for why this site is up a bit late, because the MW2 news reduced the motivation and urgency to work on the site, which otherwise would of been up in time for the launch (Borderlands was another distraction as well extra_tongue2.gif).

If there are any strands of hope left for MW2 to redeem itself, they are getting thinner and thinner as more days go past without IW releasing the dedicated-server/console/lean patch that everybody secretly wants to see, but at the same time no one is holding their breath for it to ever appear. The game is still a really decent pub game though (if you can get past the random lag, connection problems and the quirky and restrictive behaviour of IWnet). By the way, there is a new post-release petition - it's numbers aren't moving anywhere near as fast as the pre-release one - probably because most people have moved on...

...or gone back to COD4 or COD2, which is what we might just do for now. Cybergamer does have a trial ladder for MW2, but doesn't look too promising from reading the description. On the horizon for competitive gaming, we have Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (FPS), and Starcraft 2 (RTS), both coming in early 2010 and both looking clannable. At this point, I think it is fairly safe to say that the best of the call of duty series is well behind us (MMO? seriously?).

This site is still in a 'beta' stage at the moment, and some features are incomplete / will be added over time when needed (like the war system, which has a completed backend, but I havent made views for them). I wrote this site from scratch using the Django (Python) framework, so I should be able to change things pretty quickly if you ask me or see a bug/error.

So... welcome back everyone!
